The answer to the biggest question
From the Called to Love Podcast with James Levisee and Brian Knoedl
How Do You Really Get Someone Saved?
It’s the biggest question many Christians wrestle with: how do you get someone saved? In this episode of the Called to Love Podcast, James and Brian unpack why salvation is ultimately the work of the Holy Spirit—and how our role is to model Christ, not to pressure people into a decision.
Only the Holy Spirit Saves
Jesus reminded us that recognition of Him as Lord doesn’t come from flesh and blood, but by revelation of the Spirit. No one can be argued or coerced into true faith. Salvation is a gift of grace, revealed through the Spirit’s work in a person’s heart.
Why Relationships Matter
Too often, evangelism has looked like door-to-door sales—pushing for a quick decision without building relationship. Real transformation, however, comes through seeing Christ consistently modeled in someone’s life. People are drawn to what they see lived out authentically.
An Encounter, Not Just a Prayer
Prayers of repentance are powerful, but without discipleship and ongoing relationship, they risk becoming empty rituals. What people truly need is an encounter with the living God—a hunger that grows into a transformed life, not just words repeated in a moment.
A Retreat Story That Changed Everything
James recalls a men’s retreat where, instead of an altar call, attendees were first sent away with a simple piece of paper and invited to spend time alone with God. The result was powerful: hundreds of men crying out to God, encountering Him for the first time in a real way. Later, when men walked forward to publicly declare their decision to follow Christ, the celebration was loud, joyful, and contagious.
The Power of Two
Spiritual growth rarely happens alone. Scripture reminds us that two are better than one, that a cord of three strands isn’t easily broken, and that where two or more gather in His name, He is present. Encouragement, accountability, and community help sustain the faith decisions people make.
Living It Out
Salvation isn’t about a single moment—it’s about a lifestyle of following Jesus. The most effective way to reach others is to live consistently, love authentically, and invite others into relationship. Our role is to plant and water, while trusting God to bring the growth.
Until next time, may you find peace and love—and always remember: you are called to love.
