The Greatest Mission on Earth
From the Called to Love Podcast with James Levisee and Brian Knoedl
The Greatest Mission of All Time
We’ve all dreamed of great missions—whether flying fighter jets, leading special forces, or accomplishing something extraordinary. But the greatest mission of all time has already been given to us by God. In this episode of the Called to Love Podcast, James and Brian discuss how Jesus modeled this mission, how it’s fueled by the Holy Spirit, and what it looks like for us to live it out today:contentReference[oaicite:0]{index=0}.
Jesus Modeled the Mission
Jesus didn’t just come to redeem humanity; He modeled what it looks like to love God and love others. He spent time in prayer with His Father, taught His disciples relationally, and showed them how to live empowered by the Holy Spirit. If Jesus needed the Spirit to love and minister, how much more do we?
Living Empowered by the Spirit
Our lives are filled with decisions, relationships, and challenges. Without the Spirit’s guidance, we default to self-centered thinking. But when we yield to Him, we walk in forgiveness, grace, and love—even when wronged. The mission isn’t lived by willpower but by surrender to the Spirit.
The Upside-Down Kingdom
Jesus flipped the script on human logic. In Luke 6, He taught the Beatitudes and commanded us to love enemies, forgive those who wrong us, and bless those who curse us. He called this blessed living—not because it’s easy, but because it reflects His kingdom. The mission requires us to deny ourselves, take up our cross, and follow Him.
Everyday Opportunities to Live the Mission
Living the mission doesn’t always look grand. It may mean showing mercy to a customer instead of taking them to court, extending forgiveness to a spouse, or choosing kindness when you’d rather retaliate. God notices every act of love, no matter how small, and uses them to advance His kingdom.
The Mission Is for Everyone
This mission isn’t just for pastors or leaders—it’s for all believers. Some resist because they don’t want to lay down their lives, but Jesus calls us all to surrender. The good news? When we do, His Spirit empowers us to love, forgive, and endure to the end. That’s how the mission multiplies.
